When I was a child growing up my parents really did not get into many extra curricular activities nor did they push us kids to do so. As an adult and parent with my own children I have taken a different path. I believe that it is a great activity for children to play musical instruments.

I have watched my children grow due to the fact that they play musical instruments. Playing and reading sheet music has given them a challenge and when they achieve that particular phrase of sheet music they feel proud. 

When the kids perform at recitals it is a super learning experience. When they are up in front of people and performing they learn so much about themselves! They must remember the piece, keep a smile on their face, keep going when the going gets rough and be gracious. This is my gift to my children. It is something they will carry with them for the rest of their lives! I feel we could give them nothing more than confidence and pride in who and what they are through the use of musical instruments!
